Adult B'nai Mitzvah Program 2018-19
Becoming a Bar or Bat mitzvah is a pivotal moment in the life of a Jew. It is when one affirms one’s place in the Jewish community, contributes to the life and vibrancy of a house of worship, and engages with a tradition which stretches back thousands of years. The decision to voluntarily reaffirm one’s identity and role in the community as an adult is exemplary. This course aims to build a wide foundation of Jewish knowledge, infuse this knowledge back into personal life, family life, and community life, and empower students to foster their growth and better all whom they encounter. Practical skills of reading Hebrew and Torah will be acquired throughout the year.
No prior knowledge of Hebrew or Jewish studies is required. A group celebration of B’nai Mitzvah will be held at the end of the year. The course will run from mid-October through May and will be taught by our rabbis and rabbinic interns.
