At Wise Temple, Bar or Bat Mitzvah is a voluntary commitment, but a significant one for both students and their families. In order to make that important decision, student and his/her family should consider that B'nai Mitzvah is a covenant that includes student, parent, and congregation. All of us contribute toward this special journey of study and preparation in order to give both the process and the service itself meaning and beauty.
It is an affirmation of one's Jewish knowledge and maturity and, therefore, knowledge of Hebrew and Jewish studies extends beyond the ability to read a Torah portion. In order to facilitate this understanding, our Congregation's Board of Education and Board of Trustees have determined that, in order to be eligible for a Bar or Bat Mitzvah ceremony, a student must have completed certain educational and religious requirements, which are outlined in the B'nai Mitzvah Handbook.
For more information on B'nai Mitzvah, please contact the Rabbis' office at 513-793-2559.
